Catch up time!

I managed to not miss a beat on tour and then the stomach flu struck me down just in time for Christmas. So here I am catching up on the days missed…

Day 23 - Eight Things you didn’t know about me

1 - Well… the vomit phobia is out… to add to that, as Dani asked after the stomach flu struck me down (on the 23rd)… yes. Even my own vomit. I cry, I sometimes hyverventalite and I am a big baby afterward… So I don’t throw up often, even when it would probably be better if I did.

2 - I have a huge mommy instinct in both of my jobs. I can mom the hell out of my actors, my little kids at the daycare, my friends, my boyfriends… but I have absolutely no instinct to have any kids of my own. I try… My abundance of pregnant friends bewilder me. I am so happy for each and every one of them but I cannot find the urge myself. I have had so many people tell me it will come and I want to yell at them in frustration, cause I really don’t think it will. Possibely adoption … way later in life … but I sincerely doubt there will be any of my own. (and by my own I mean, my own birth… because if I do adopt they will absolutely be “my own”… oh its all so complicated)

3 - I hated being an only child. I am insanely jealous of people with siblings. Sibling relationships fascinate me, unless you are an only child yourself I don’t think you can understand exactly how people with siblings are so amazing (and blessed)

4 - I am a Virgo… Virgo is the “internationally recognized sign of the stage manager”. Last year when all the of the birth signs got mixed up, my birthday fell on the exact start date of the new Virgo… Even when almost everyone else in the world was suddenly not who they thought they were… I was still a Virgo.. OCD and uptight…

5 - I was born on the same day as Mother Theresa… tough act to follow

6 - My middle name (Sandra) comes from this amazing woman that was first my mother’s doctor and then her best friend. Sandra left to work  over seas but when Mom was pregnant with me Sandra sent a letter from South Africa asking if Mom was pregnant… Nobody else knew but Mom, Dad and my family Doctor. Mom wanted her to be my God Mom but because she was always wandering dangerous countries she didn’t think that was a good idea, so I was named after her instead.

7 - Mom miscarried twins 3 years before she had me. She was just about 3 months pregnant and her Doctor didn’t know if she would be able to have a child. I’m the result of a mother who wouldn’t give up on me and maybe a bit of a miracle as well.

8 - A month before I was due I slipped in the womb “and went into distress” I wrapped the Umbilical cord around my neck and Mom went into early labour. Now Mom jokes I’ve “been in distress ever since”… That being said I was a pretty sick little girl for a big chunk of my life and my parents were pretty over protective… even now they baby me a lot when I get sick. Lucky for me, since I hate it so much. — Probably not lucky for Rob the first time he gets stuck with it… good thing he was a Paramedic once ;) —
