Day 28 - A skill I’d like to learn
Any musical instrument. Probably starting with the guitar… but being able to actually play the harmonica would be pretty killer… and my interest in the banjo has really piqued these days too…
Damaged people are dangerous. They know they can survive.

Day 27 - Myself, a year ago.
According to this…
“Yep. Still breaking my heart.
In case we were keeping score.”
Sad.
(and according to Facebook it looks like I’ve had the stomach flu on Christmas two years in a row…)
Day 26 - Something I am looking forward to
Tough one hey? Landing in Vancouver, and every day after for the next 4 weeks… 4 more sleeps.
Day 25 - The contents of my purse
This is tricky because I am barely done tour and then straight to being on holidays and haven’t had much need for any purse… so the contents are still divided between my every day purse and my tour bag.
Tour bag still contains - change purse full of change, pack of gum, Accutane blister packs, Hemp Hand Protector, non-drowsy Gravol, Avojuice lotion,...
Catch up time!
I managed to not miss a beat on tour and then the stomach flu struck me down just in time for Christmas. So here I am catching up on the days missed…
Day 23 - Eight Things you didn’t know about me
1 - Well… the vomit phobia is out… to add to that, as Dani asked after the stomach flu struck me down (on the 23rd)… yes. Even my own vomit. I cry, I...
I hope things are beautiful. And if they’re not, then I hope you remember...

Day 21 - Something I never tire of
The sweet sound of harmonica.
Day 20 - A childhood anecdote
My Dad used to tell me when I was too young to stay up on New Year’s Eve that if everyone wasn’t in their own beds by midnight they would go back in time like in Back to the Future… I’m sure it stemmed from us watching Back to the Future every New Year’s Day and me desperately wanting to go to Grandma’s until midnight to see what...
Brand new! Now if you click on My Instagrid under my blog’s title… you can get to all of my Instagram pictures!
With that, it is most certainly time for bed. Only 2 more tour mornings… and then it is all Christmas all the time :)

The moment Marshall (Jason Segel) found out his father died was the hardest scene we’ve ever done. The show had gone to sad places before, but they were all kind of “romantic comedy” sad —break-ups,rejections, a runaway bride, that sort of stuff. You always figured whatever life threw at these characters, they’d get over it and go back to being funny the next...
Day 16 - Someone who inspires me
Wow. This has been the toughest one yet.
I’m pretty sure that everyone that stays close in my life is inspiring to me.. I think it is a subconscious prerequisite of my friendships. So that said, there are so many people that inspire me in so many different ways, that I have no idea how to pick just one person.
While picking someone famous feels somewhat...
Reality Bites More Like Reality Rocks →
My friend Jessica just posted this article from the online magazine she writes for. Good timing… And nice to see how much we still have in common after 11 years.
Day 13 - Something I’m proud of
My team. Yesterday was the worst, longest, scariest day of my career. Our little sick actor thought he was better and well enough to head out on tour with us yesterday morning. So we set off at 7:30 am for our first day of tour… all the way to Sandy Bay, seven hours north where the roads stop…
We made it there, in good spirits, we set up, we were...
Day 12 - Three Blogs I can’t get enough
Well.. I’m addicted to my google reader these days. I have the iReadG app on my phone and it amalgamates all of my favorite blogs into one big stream for the day.
But the top 3?
http://www.turntablekitchen.com/ My two favorite things. Recipes and the music to pair it with. Seriously, this is too cool. Check out the Pairings Box while you are...
Day 11 - Something I’ve been craving
Dill Pickle chips. All day. Every Day, for several weeks. I don’t know what the deal is with that. I thought maybe dill pickle popcorn seasoning would be enough, but no. Just straight up Lays Dill Pickle Chips.
Day 10 - What I love about my job
Having to answer this question right now is either extreme irony or some sort of blessing.
What I love about my job… Well. This week a lot of the things that I might have said I love about my job are the things causing me to hate it… But that is the trick of theatre… It can turn on you at a moments notice.
I love lists. I love the week before...
Day 9 - A close up of my day (Are you ready for this)
Pro to working in theatre… My days are very seldom the same as the next.
Con to working in theatre… Expect the Unexpected.
Every morning this week I wake up around 10 am to Jian and lay in bed for another hour… sometime avoiding looking at my phone and sometimes dealing with it right away and then checking CBC news and CTV...
I Need My Girl - The National →
The National debuted this song on Q this morning. It is amazing. And with the week I’m having, couldn’t have been any better timed.
Me: ok, I'm going to crawl into bed with The Help
Mom: all of them???
And then we dissolve into giggles while she threatens to call me a hussy on Facebook.
Who needs autocorrect errors in this house? We just need to open up our mouths...
Today I dealt with every worst nightmare I have ever had as a Stage Manager. At once.
We had to stop our matinee 3/4 of the way through because the youngest member of our team, who we have all taken to babying got so ill he collapsed and started vomitting uncontrollably.
We got him to the hospital, we were able to have someone stand in for him with a script in their hand (and this evening and...
Day 5 - Three years ago.
I was somewhere between here and Moose Jaw. I had just closed Burn, been on a short week long tour with farm animal puppets and was bracing myself for the holidays working at The Bay. Driving to Moose Jaw on the weekends, missing Ryan on the weekdays…
My career was picking back up, I had plans to work on Charlie and Ella with Tara and Brian. I was seriously...
Day 3 - Something I never leave the house without.
Same as Rachel - iPhone, wallet, keys.
So. By default about 250 of my best musical friends.. And always always always Dan Mangan
Lately this list has also included the all important stage management keys on a carabiner hanging from my jacket pocket complete with flashlight.
Starting tomorrow - roughly 200 Christmas songs at the touch of a...
Day 2 - Three inspirational quotes
I have better things to do than survive.
- Ani Difranco
You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you
